The Copper Cellar Family of Restaurants collected more than 2,100 Christmas cards for 8-year old Safyre Terry last week and will deliver the cards before Christmas.
(from WVLT News) An 8 year-old girl is getting hugs and kisses from around the world in the form of Christmas cards.
We’ve told you about Safyre Terry, the little girl who was badly burned in a fire and lost her father and three siblings. Her wish this year was to receive Christmas cards as presents.
East Tennesseans helped Local 8 News and the Copper Cellar restaurant group collect 2,100 cards to send to Safyre in New York.
Bill Johnson with Copper Cellar Restaurants said, “Not only have we received cards but we also have packages, their are some stuffed animals in some of the cards and they contain money.”
Across the country, 430,000 people sent cards to Safyre. She’s also received $388,000 in donations and a trip to Disney World.
