Long before the word “infographics” was widely used and universally understood, a Knoxville-based firm registered the term and called itself “Info-graphics.”
This month, Info-graphics® celebrates its 20th Anniversary with an upcoming event that has special meaning to the Info-graphics staff.
The company was founded in 1995 by Eddie Hopps, who was later joined by Rob Eddy and Jim Kughler. The company lost Kughler in 2013 to cancer and in honor of Kughler, the Info-graphics® Anniversary Celebration will also be a fundraiser for Knoxville’s Cancer Support Community.
For 20 years Info-graphics focus has been creating concise and clear technical communication tools and content for its clients. In the early days, it was largely illustrations and printed instructions. Today the company creates a range of compelling technical tools for its clients, and delivers those messages in a variety of new ways. In recent years Info-graphics® has been busy producing 3D animations, videos, mobile documents and schematics, instructions, 3D renderings, and interactive tools as well as traditional print graphics that its clients use to communicate complicated subjects in easy-to-understand and compelling ways.
Info-graphics® creates powerful graphics, video and animation that make complex technical data easy to understand. The company supports the engineering, product management and marketing departments for some of the world’s best-known and most respected companies and brands.
“We’re proud of our long history in Knoxville,” said Rob Eddy, President and General Manager of Info-graphics®. “We hope that all of our customers, partners, business associates, friends and family will stop by and celebrate with us.
“Jim played a critical role in making this company what it is today, so it’s important for us to honor him with this milestone as well.”
On Thursday, Sept. 24, Info-graphics® will host a 20th Anniversary Celebration from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Atrium at Cherokee Mills (119 N. Concord Street in Knoxville). The event ̶ which will raise money for Cancer Support Community in memory of Kughler ̶ will feature live jazz music, hor d’oeuvres and an open bar. A commissioned work of art will also be raffled during the event with proceeds benefiting Cancer Support Community.
