The Smoky Mountain Brewery at Turkey Creek will once again serve as the official 2016 National Signing Day Headquarters for Vol Nation. Hundreds of Vol fans from all over the Southeast will be there when the doors open at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2016.
In recent years, Smoky Mountain Brewery at Turkey Creek has hosted National Signing Day with special guests, live radio and television broadcasts, food specials and live National Signing Day updates from across the country. It is the one place where Vol fans can go to experience National Signing Day with hundreds of other University of Tennessee fans from throughout the region.
Todd Fleming, general manager of Smoky Mountain Brewery Turkey Creek, said, “Smoky Mountain Brewery and Calhoun’s are synonymous with East Tennessee sports. Vol fans know that this is where you go before, during or after UT games. National Signing Day is no different – it’s where you’ll find all of the die-hard Vol fans.”
Complimentary orange juice, coffee and muffins will be available from 7 – 9:30 a.m. and Smoky Mountain Brewery will begin serving food and drinks shortly thereafter. A number of daily specials will be available throughout the day with discounted food and drinks.
National Signing Day has become a national spectacle with high school players taking advantage of their time in the spotlight to announce their college decision, often in the most ridiculous way possible. While many enjoy watching the creativity and sometimes goofiness of each player, the event is also meaningful as each team tries to bring in the best possible class.
From 7 – 10 a.m., Fox Sports Radio’s Nate Hodges and Houston Kress will broadcast live from Smoky Mountain Brewery Turkey Creek. At 10 a.m., Knoxville’s popular Tony Basillio will take the stage and broadcast live until early afternoon. In the afternoon, Russ Smith and Richard Daugherty will broadcast live and Tom Poisel will finish out the day from 6 – 8 p.m.
